Raymond Ortiz Twinhorse (ca.1940s-)
San Felipe Pueblo is located on the Rio Grande halfway between Albuquerque and Santa Fe. Raymond Ortiz (Twinhorse) went to San Felipe Day School, Bernalillo High School and Albuquerque Indian School. He has been making jewelry since the mid-1970s. He has shown his work at Santa Fe Indian Market and the Heard Museum Show as well as selling under the portal at the Palace of the Governors in Santa Fe.
One of Santa Fe’s major attractions is the Vendor’s Portal at the Palace of the Governors. For decades, Native American artists have sold their wares to tourists and locals alike under the portal. A daily lottery guarantees a changing selection of artists from the local Native Tribes, including artisans from the New Mexico Pueblos and the Navajo Nation. This is a place where one can meet and talk to the artists - including Raymond with is latest jewelry creations.
