18th Century French Porcelain Courting Figures By Joseph-Gaspard Robert late 17
They measure 7 7/8" tall and the bases are 3 11/16" wide. I'm 100% certain these<br>are very early antique figures circa late 18th to early 19th century. Limoges Porcelain Plaque Artist Signed and Dated 1920 11.75" woodland Scene T&V
Great piece with no issues. The paint is a bisque type rather than the more common shiny painting of the era. It was painted at the factory pre firing as it survived much cleaning on my part. I wouldn't pull out the steel wool, but the paint is strong. A graceful work of art that will blend in with most settings. The porcelain is perfect with no damage or wear.

Lamp repurposed from 1890's Flow Blue Wash Bowl and Pitcher Set "Dresden" Humphr
Well here it is! What you've always wanted but couldn't justify doing<br>financially or with a clear conscience. Someone did it for you about 50 years<br>ago. They did a good job it appears. Though I guess they had to drill the<br>pitcher. The pitcher is perfect otherwise with no cracks, chips, or<br>restorations. The bowl has a very tight crowsfoot on the base that doesn't go<br>through to interior. Both pieces have the expected crazing from 120 year old<br>earthenware. A couple worn glaze spots on rim of bowl, no chips or cracks. The<br>bowl is 15.75" wide, pitcher is 11.5" tall without brass hardware. Lamp and<br>switch work.<br><br>I'll include the shade if you want, but my main concern will be the careful<br>packaging of the bowl/pitcher. They will for sure reach you in the condition<br>they're currently in.

Antique Derby Figures 18th Century Liberty and Matrimony Man with Bird's nest an
The woman is 8 7/8" tall, the man is 8.5" tall. Tag on the base indicating they<br>were part of the "Burnap Collection" Chelsea, 1770. I believe they're from the<br>crossover period right around the time the firm changed hands in 1769. They have<br>the Patch marks on the base. I believe these are a fairly uncommon subject<br>matter. Guaranteed 18th century.<br><br>There is much damage to the applied Florals on both pieces. I believe there is a<br>very old professional restoration to his hat and her arm.<br><br>The pair is very heavy, 3.25 pounds.<br><br>The Chelsea porcelain manufactory (established around 1743-45) is the first<br>important porcelainmanufactory in England;[1] its earliest soft-paste porcelain,<br>aimed at the aristocratic market—cream jugs in the form of two seated goats—are<br>dated 1745. The entrepreneurial director was Nicholas Sprimont, a silversmith by<br>trade, but few documents survive to aid a picture of the manufactory's history.<br>Early tablewares, being produced in profusion by 1750, depend on Meissen<br>porcelain models and on silver prototypes, such as salt cellars in the form of<br>realistic shells.<br><br>Chelsea was known for its figures. From about 1760 its inspiration was drawn<br>more from Sèvres porcelainthan Meissen.<br><br>In 1769 the manufactory was purchased by William Duesbury, owner of the Derby<br>porcelain factory, and the wares are indistinguishable during the "Chelsea-Derby<br>period" that lasted until 1784, when the Chelsea factory was demolished and its<br>moulds, patterns and many of its workmen and artists transferred to Derby.

Antique English Earthenware Hand Painted Roses porcelain Tazza - Cake Stand with
Really nice early 1800's to 1860's compote set. I believe the Brown leaves on the rim are transfer printed, but am positive the flowers in the centers are hand painted. The Compote and plates are 9" wide x 2.5" tall, no cracks, chips, or restorations on any of the 5 pieces there is minor gold wear on the compote, very minor utensil marks here and there on all pieces, extremely light stains on the front and back of one plate. 18th Century Rudolstadt Volkstedt Napoleonic Horse figure
18th Century Rudolstadt Volkstedt Napoleonic Horse figure. I guarantee this figure to be 200+ years old. If it is actually a depiction of Napoleon's horse then it would be early 19th century, but I believe it be from the last decade of the 18th century. 5 7/8" tall x 6.5" long, with a very old professional restoration that is now flaking off on the mid to upper body of the horse. Volkstedt Porcelain - History In September 1760, Georg Heinrich Macheleid (1723-1801) made a request to Prince Johann Friedrich, Fürst von Schwartzburg-Rudolstadt to establish a porcelain factory in Sitzendorf, Thuringia, Germany. Macheleid previously worked at a glass factory in Glücksthal. Independent of the ceramicists at Meissen, Macheleid conducted his own research into creating a hard paste porcelain.Prince Johann Friedrich granted Macheleid’s request in 1762 with the stipulation that the plant be located near his court in Schwarzburg-Rudolstadt. Macheleid established the Aelteste Volkstedter Porzellanfabrik (Oldest Volkstedt Porcelain Factory) in Volstedt which became part of Rudolstadt in 1923. Macheleid created a self-sustaining village for his workers. In 1767, Macheleid left. The factory came under the control of the prince, his wife, his son, and five other investors. They leased the factory to Christian Nome from Erfurt. During the latter half of the eighteenth century, Volksted gained a reputation for its well modeled and painted figurines, rivaling those of Meissen. In 1793, Prince Johann Friedrich purchased all outstanding shares. In 1797, Prince Ludwig Friedrich, Johann’s successor, sold the factory to his brother-in-law Ernest Constantine, Landgrave of Hesse-Philippstahl, who sold it to Wilhelm Greiner and Carl Holzapfel several years later. Nome left around 1800.isshelf

1880's French A Klingenberg Limoges Demitasse cup and saucer set (7). Selling the 7 Eggshell porcelain demitasse (espresso) cup and saucers shown, they each look to have an ornate P monogram on the saucer incorporated into the pattern, really an amazing set all hand painted with absolutely no damage. No cracks, chips, restorations, or significant wear to gilding, they all ring like a bell. Selling all 7 with 4.5" wide saucers, small cups not tea cups, these are cabinet sized or for strong espresso coffee.A. Klingenberg was an accomplished Limoges artisan painter when he opened his own porcelain factory and decorating studio in the Limoges region of France in the early 1880's. There does not seem to be a surfeit of information about Klingenberg or his company other than that he merged with Charles Dwenger's studio sometime in the late 1890's or very early 1900's. Klingenberg & Dwenger together manufactured porcelain products, produced decorated finished porcelain pieces, and exported them world-wide until 1910 when the company closed its doors. While there may be a paucity of detail about A. Klingenberg and his company, there are numerous astonishingly lovely works of art that this short-lived company left behind.

1970's Peter Deneen Studio Pottery Ashtray
1970's Peter Deneen Studio Pottery Ashtray. Really nice ashtray to use for whatever you want from the 70's or 80's. 5" wide x 2 1/8" tall. Peter Deneen began his lifelong journey with ceramics while studying pottery at Luther College in Decorah, Iowa. During this period he also began attending Marguerite Wildenhain’s Pond Farm School (located in northern California) in 1968. Peter went on to earn his M.A. from the University of Iowa in 1971. Inspired By Art & History During this time, Peter caught the inspirational fire of the Bauhaus movement of Walter Gropius in Post World War I Germany. The main thrust of the Bauhaus “was to create an environment which would nurture the bond between art, industry and trade through education; to insure the cooperation of industry and artists in the field of mass production.” ESTABLISHING DENEEN POTTERY In 1972, Peter and Mary Deneen established their first studio and showroom at Park Square Court in the Lowertown neighborhood of St. Paul. Here they began producing hand thrown functional and decorative pottery and dinnerware. “Form follows function,” was embedded within their work through the teachings from Marguerite Wildenhain, recalling the Bauhaus lessons she learned from Gerhard Marcks. It was during this time that Mary started to produce more commemorative items and ceramic figures, while launching a “Bear Essentials” line. White Picture corner top leftWhite Picture corner top rightWhite Picture corner bottom leftWhite Picture corner bottom rightEarly Days of Deneen Pottery 1974 PARK SQUARE COURT IN LOWERTOWN • “The Spin of a potter’s wheel brings prosperity, unfettered life-style.” This was the title of the article that ran in a local St. Paul publication around 1974. “Peter Deneen sits at his potter’s wheel, fingers fashioning burnt-cinnamon clay into pots and plates, goblets and candle-holders, tall, corked canisters and small spice bottles.” At this time, the Deneens wanted to open retail outlets similar to Pottery Barn, but make all of the products at their Lowertown studio. A favorite quote (of the current office) staff has Peter saying. “We’ll never be more than a handful of people. I’d never get larger than three stores,” says Peter.” “Don’t say ‘never,'” interjects Mary.” Wow, how the path has deviated from the plans made in 1974! tw129

Nymphenburg Blanc de Chine Allegorical Figure Set
Nymphenburg Blanc de Chine Allegorical Figure Set. Selling the set, tallest 7.5"<br>from the third quarter of the 20th century with 5 of Bustelli's Ovidian s<br>standing on plinths. From 1754 to 1763 Franz Anton Bustelli modeled a set of<br>small putti at Nymphenburg, representing the Roman s as described by the Latin<br>poet Ovid. He took a different approach from previous representations of s,<br>seeing them as smiling, playful children in a Baroque style, with sculptural,<br>three-dimensional poses that twist and turn. Each figure has to be seen in the<br>round to be fully appreciated. Each figure is also accompanied by a specific<br>object or objects that identify which is represented, for example, a wine barrel<br>and an upraised cup for the of wine, Bacchus. Bustelli's figures of Ovidian s<br>have been reissued since the early 20th century by the Nymphenburg factory in<br>Munich as a fitting tribute to the genius of its greatest sculptor.<br>No cracks, chips, or restorations.
