Ishmael Soto(1932-2017) Austin Texas Studio Pottery Candle Bowls. These measure<br>5.5" and 5 1/8" wide. The middle area is over 2" on both. No cracks, chips, or<br>restorations. Selling both, not an exact match.<br><br>Ishmael Soto, longtime Austin ceramicist and teacher, died Monday after a battle<br>with cancer. He was 84.<br><br>“Ishmael’s passing is a loss for us all in the community,” said Sylvia Orozco,<br>director of Mexic-Arte Museum. “He was a great human being, teacher and artist.<br>Ishmael was one of the first, if not the first Mexican-American Austinite to<br>become a professional visual artist.”<br><br>Artist and teacher Ishmael Soto died Feb. 27 at age 84. Contributed by Tahila<br>Mintz<br><br>Soto won many prizes and was exhibited frequently in group and solo shows.<br><br>A native Austinite, Soto earned his first degree from the University of Texas<br>and his second from the famed Cranbrook Academy of Art in Michigan. 4 Antique Barber Bottles Amethyst Cobalt Blue Opalescent Glass. Selling all four for one price they range in height from 6.5" to 7 3/8" all late 19th to early 20th century. No cracks, chips, or restorations. Fancy barber bottles were popular in the second half of the 19th century. Barbers made their own hair tonic and other hair products or bought them in large containers and poured them into their own barber bottles. Most barber bottles weren’t labeled, but the barber knew what was inside each bottle because of its shape and color. Some were made for specific customers and were labeled with the customer’s name. Most have a bulbous bottom and thin neck. The bottles were made in cranberry, cut, hobnail, milk, opalescent, spatter, vaseline and other types of art glass in many colors. Most were blown. Look for a pontil mark on the bottom of the bottle. The stopper is also a good clue to the bottle’s use. If it has a sprinkler top, it’s not a liquor bottle. The Pure Food and Drugs Act of 1906 made it illegal to use refillable bottles without labels in a barbershop, and the bottles were no longer used.

Alfred J Bennett(1861-1923) British Pencil Signed Engraving Westminster Abbey. 17.75" x 13" framed. Slight discoloration only visible on border, clean frame. Alfred John Bennett (1861 – c.1923) was an Englishartist who worked in oils, watercolour and etching. Life and work Bennett was born in London which became a major source of inspiration to the artist. His paintings, drawings and etchings, more often than not, depicted well known landmarks of the capital city. In December 1889 Bennett married Catherine Avery (They had one daughter, Mary Catherine) and spent a short amount of time living with her family in East Hyde, Bedfordshire.[1] During this period Bennett worked as a Jeweller, whilst also regularly submitting paintings to the Royal Academy of which four were exhibited between 1861-1880.[1][2] After this success, Bennett left the jewellery trade and concentrated on his art, first moving to Thornton Heath, Surrey and then relocating his studio to Knebworth.[3][4] Exhibitions Bennett exhibited extensively, regularly contributing work to the Royal Watercolour Society (17 pictures) and British Institution (2 pictures) exhibitions.[2] A further painting titled The Hill Farm was exhibited at the Royal Academy in 1916, and he achieved more success with solo and joint shows at the prestigious Walker's Gallery in New Bond Street, London in 1918 and 1923.[4] In addition, he also exhibited works at the Fine Art Society, New English Art Club, Grosvenor Gallery, International Society, and the Royal Institute of Oil Painters.[3] Many of Bennett's works are found in public art collections, including two watercolours in the collection of Brighton Museum & Art Gallery. Navajo Ray Tracey Knifewing Modernistic Inlaid Earrings 1.25" wide square. Light scratches, no deep scratches, bends, or damage to stones. The Creative Process Fueled by Inspiration “God blesses everyone with a variety of gifts and talents.” The Creator blessed Ray with the spirit of Creativity. Inspiration is the basis for his creative spirit. Inspiration arrives in many forms and disguises when least expected. Hiking the canyons of the Southwest, where his ancestors did the same, gives Ray a feeling of reverence. Walking in peace with gratitude and thanksgiving opens up the senses to receive ideas. Petroglyphs carved on canyon walls turns into wearable art. Stories from an ancient past are re-lived on the faces of Yei pendants. The evening sky’s transformation of color inspired the Earth and Sky jewelry line. Once while golfing, a white butterfly landed on Ray’s golf bag and accompanied him down the fairway. This incident brought the Butterfly and Dragonfly design concept to reality. Having awareness of this special gift, he aspires to know the origin. Artist Ray Tracey has had a life-long love of jewelry. As a child growing up in Sawmill, AZ, Asa Tracey, his Grandfather, influenced him with his stories of working the goat bellows for his uncle. Asa would pump the goat bellows all day long to fuel the fire in the forge that would melt silver in a small cast iron crucible. This process was very labor intensive and his grandfather hated it. The molten silver would then be poured into a tufa stone mold to form an ingot. The jeweler would then execute his craft and a new piece of jewelry would be created. “I wanted to see finished jewelry and wanted to learn everything I could. Whenever we would go to Gallup, NM, I would visit curio stores to see creations in silver.” Ray spent time viewing jewelry designs at the Gallup Intertribal Indian Ceremonial and at the Navajo Nation Fair. Anywhere, there was jewelry on display; Ray could be seen viewing the works of art. Ray’s family moved to Ganado, AZ when he was six years old. One summer day when he was nine years old, he complained to his mother of how bored he was. The next day his mother enrolled him into summer school and changed his life forever. He went straight to art class and found a silver smithing table in the corner. He remembered his grandfather’s stories and the rest is history.  “In class I fabricated my first ring out of silver for my Mother. I found an unknown stone and made a cabochon. I tried to copy an old style ring design that I had seen at Hubbells Trading Post. One teardrop flanked the sides of the stone. It was a very simple design but it took me a week to finish. I kept melting the silver. I made my next silver and stone creation at the age of 21 and gave it to my mother. It was another ring, but this time it was a split shank with three ribs and three tear drops on the side of the stone.” I told my father, I want to make jewelry for the rest of my life.” Ray continued making jewelry while attending Brigham Young University. Studying chemistry and physics by day and making jewelry at night. “The designs were simple, my first love was Old Style Navajo jewelry. Weekends were spent traveling to Gallup, NM, to sell his work. While at BYU another opportunity arose to express his creativity—acting. “I wasn’t a very good student so Hollywood had an instant appeal. My gift of creativity carried over into acting. Acting was just another outlet of creative expression.” His adventurous nature allowed Ray to spend several years as an actor in feature films and television. This acting detour never made him lose interest in jewelry design. Eventually, Ray’s love of jewelry brought him back to New Mexico to permanently pursue this art form. “One time while traveling to Albuquerque from Gallup, I noticed the horizon over Laa Pueblo. I saw steps on a mesa. I incorporated this imagery of tiered steps into a bracelet design.” “Another time, while golfing at Hobble Creek Golf Course, I saw pebbles aligned in a  row on the river bottom. Those pebbles became my inspiration to place them on the sides of an inlaid bracelet.” “Sometimes my creativity comes to a screeching halt. When this happens I go to my roots; Old Style jewelry. That is the place of fascination. The Old Ones utilized rudimentary tools to create their simple, yet perfected, pieces of craftsmanship. From this point I am able to create from an inspiring idea. On the flip side, sometimes my mind becomes flooded with more designs than I can remember. Ideas come so quickly I can’t draw them fast enough.” “When I see someone wearing one of my designs, it takes me back to the time when the piece was created. Sometimes I can recall what I was eating or even the music I was listening to. I will remember the inspiration that helped create that design.” Ray has found his path or gift of self-expression that has blessed, enlightened, and influenced his life and others. Awareness of this special gift, fuels his energy and creativity. Inspiration helps to translate his creativity into artistic-visual expression. His creations stand as transitional figures from traditional to contemporary.  He creates something good as he is drawn toward untouched fields of yet-to-be-discovered imagery. 1930's Cambridge Crown Tuscan Rose Point Lamp. 13" tall, my camera is washing<br>out the color. It's the gorgeous pink that crown Tuscan is. No cracks, chips,<br>nicks, or restorations. Lamp works. It was an advertising piece that said<br>Cambridge rose point on both sides in gold. That was removed, if you look very<br>close you can see traces of it. The rest of the gold is clean with minimal wear<br>shown in pics. Very few of these exist, the previous piece paid $500 for this in<br>1983.

c1920 San Antonio Texas Quack Medicine Radio Magnetic Nerve Vitalizer with<br>Paperwork Describing Cures. Interesting and rare. Includes prospectus of<br>purposed corporation to distribute this device. So I actually believe this was<br>the salesmans' sample that they used to try to sell the device. In this paper it<br>states their price was $40-$50 in 1919, so they likely never sold any as I can<br>find no evidence of another existing. It cured crippled people, crossed eyed<br>people, all that good stuff. Untested by me. The corners to the box lid are<br>split.<br>If you're the gullible type please don't buy this expecting it you cure all your<br>ailments. 1950's Bryce 664 Amethyst Clear Diamond Stem (8) 6.25" x 2 1/8" wide at rim. I think these are small champagne flutes. This is an extremely uncommon pattern in which not every shape is documented. I'm 100% sure and guarantee them to be Bryce 664. Bryce went out of business in the 1960's. They're all perfect with no cracks, chips, cloudiness, restorations, or scratches.

16" c1900 Wilhelm Schiller Austrian Majolica Vase 11.75" wide with handles. X 15 7/8" tall. No cracks, chips, or restorations.Wilhelm Schiller began production of porcelain and earthenware in Bodenbach, Bohemia in 1829, operating under the name of Schiller and Gerbing. In 1885, the firm was dissolved and renamed Wilhelm Schiller and Son and remained in operation until the onset of World War I. It is unknown whether the firm of Schiller and Gerbing produced majolica, but the firm of Wilhelm Schiller and Son is clearly the most prolific of the Bohemian manufacturers of majolica.The color palette used by Bohemian majolica makers including Schiller is much more subdued than that of their Staffordshire counterparts. The background of many Schiller pieces is of a matte-finished taupe, light gray or turquoise with glazed surface features in various shades of brown and black. The interiors are usually glazed in turquoise. Much of the firm’s production reflects the transition from traditional Victorian majolica to the Art Deco style. The most common Schiller pieces are decorative vases, jardinieres, table centers and ewers. No examples of Schiller majolica plates, bowls or other functional table-wares are known.Wilhelm Schiller and Sons majolica was marked with the letters ‘WS&S’ that was either impressed or contained within a raised cartouche.

Dave Sellers Canada Geese at Elkhorn 1991 Painting San Jose California Artist Waterfowl 39.75" x 23.5" framed x 13.5" x 29.5" sight. Incredible guaranteed original painting.Biography of the ArtistDave began his career as a means to fund his college education.   His initial focus was wildlife.  After attending Humboldt State University in Northern California, he began his career in earnest.  Success came early with requests from California Ducks Unlimited and The California Waterfowl Association to be their artist of the year.   Dave was also among the youngest artists to be asked to exhibit his work at the internationally recognized “Birds in Art” exhibit at the Leigh Yawkey Woodson Art Museum.   For the first decade of his career, Dave held his focus on wildlife paintings,  however, by the mid 1990’s, he turned to landscape painting.   Most of his early work in landscape was done outdoors but, over time, he shifted to more refined studio work with his outdoor work done primarily in pencil.  This eventually led to his original concept of “Notebook” paintings.   He was first inspired to pursue this location focused artistic expression by an exhibit at the Denver Museum of Art displaying the famous notes and sketches by the cowboy artist Charles M. Russell.   With Dave’s active life in backpacking and extensive outdoor exploration, carrying small. light weight notebook sized prepared surfaces was the only practical way to express himself in art while on long back country trips.More recently, in 2015, Dave and his wife, Christiane, began working together.   Chris took up refined craftsman style wood working and all of Dave’s painting are now framed exclusively in these beautiful, finely crafted hardwood frames.
