Olga Quezada Hernandez is one of the first generation master potters whose work is highly sought after in Mata Ortiz, Mexico. She is married to Humberto Ledezma, and her son is the very well known potter Guadalupe Ledezma. Olga Quezada works in the traditional cuadricula pattern of squares, and favors the use of a gorgeous deep earthy brown clay that stands out from the rest. Her work is easily identifiable for it's beauty, precision and precisely painted design. Olga is one of the few original first generation potters that are still faithfully crafting gorgeous pottery, and her work bears all the hallmarks of light weight museum quality work.There is so much elegance in this piece. Contemporary, modern and sleek.. yet using all of the traditional techniques of Mata Ortiz pottery. With all of the precision in this piece, it is hard to believe that it was hand polished using an agate stone and painted with long strands of human hair. Vintage Ming's of Hawaii Jadeite 14k gold pendant. As far as I know Ming's<br>always sold high quality untreated Jadeite. I didn't know they repurposed<br>antique items but this looks like an antique button repurposed into a pendant by<br>Ming's in the mid 20th century or so. 1.25" tall x 5/8" wide x 2.5 grams.<br><br><br>Ming’s opened in 1940’s by Wook Moon and eventually had retail stores not only<br>in Hawaii but in San Francisco and New York.<br>Ming’s became popular among folks in the downtown area with a store here in Fort<br>Street mall. About Royal Order Of Jesters Founded in 1911, the Royal Order of Jesters functions in connection with Freemasonry and the Shriners. The organization exists for the encouragement of laughter and fun in leisure time, as evidenced by the motto “Mirth is King.” The Royal Order of Jesters draws its name from the licensed court fools in medieval times known as jesters, who not only amused the patrons whom they served, but also assisted in intellectual and cultural development. When the founding members gathered in Hawaii on February 20, 1911, they chose the name of the Royal Order of Jesters to build upon this history and to set the tone for the organization. Led by Noble A.M. Ellison, the original members, known as a cast, consisted of 13 Shriners headed to Aloha Temple on a pilgrimage. The meeting took place in the Captain's Office aboard the S.S. Wilhelmina after a Testimonial Banquet hosted by the ship's captain and officers. Large French Sevres Style Porcelain Jewelry Casket. Large sized amazing quality<br>100% hand painted jewelry box from the first quarter of the 20th century. Nice<br>hinged enclosure that clasps it shut very tight then the lid pops up slightly<br>when the clasp is opened. The hinge is nice and tight so it stays open at<br>various intervals. Very nice raised gold all over, with a very well painted<br>romance scene on top. 8" wide x 3.75" tall shut x 5.5" deep. No cracks, chips,<br>restorations, or detectable wear. I've had<br>several similar jars from this period, still have a few and this is the largest<br>and one of the most attractive I've seen. 6 5/8" wide x 6.5" tall. I've examined<br>this very closely under both strong light and under UV light and I suspect the<br>top handle has a very good, old professional restoration even though it doesn't<br>show under UV light, I could find no other damage or restorations. Antique Pocket Gold Scales/test kits. Selling the 19th century gold testing kit<br>without the chemicals with the 18th/19th century extremely well made and<br>complete pocket gold/gem scales complete with weights all the way down to carat<br>fractions. I could find no identifying marks, but it's really well made and so<br>is the case, notice the screws on the case have offset slots in the heads, very<br>old set. Box for scales measures 4 3/8" x 2 3/8". These are both fresh from the<br>same estate, I would speculate that these were carried by a miner or some sort<br>of traveling gold trader.<br>isshelf

c1870 Native American Silver Plains Indians rocker engraved hair piece. Amazing<br>piece of Native American hand worked silver from the c1870's-80's. 86.8 grams,<br>tested silver guaranteed at least 90% (coin silver) Just over 5.5" wide, an<br>amazing museum quality piece from a long time collection with the most awesome<br>natural patina. There's a hallmark shown in the bottom of the reverse side pic,<br>appears to be a T R in a rectangle. I'm thinking likely this was made from<br>another silver piece that was traded to the Native Americans, as I don't believe<br>they were mining silver. They were getting it by trade. I'll be listing another<br>piece from the same collection.

Much less<br>common in this trunk down form but I have seen this exact mold with original<br>labels, plus it's obviously Rosemeade clay, uncommon color also. 2.5" tall with<br>no damage.<br><br>Rosemeade pottery has become a popular collectible today because its creator,<br>Laura Taylor Hughes, chose subjects which continually fascinate people--animals,<br>birds, fish--and modeled authentic characterizations of their living<br>counterparts.  These innovative designs were then accurately hand painted in<br>nature's vivid coloring.<br>Laura Taylor combined education, experience and creative skill.  Educated at<br>UND, Taylor was a student and assistant to nationally known director, Margaret<br>Cable.  After a short period of making Dickota pottery at the Dickinson Clay<br>Products Company, Laura Taylor was appointed state supervisor of the North<br>Dakota Works Administration (WPA).<br>An opportunity to demonstrate pottery making at the 1939 New York World's Fair<br>changed Laura Taylor's life as she met Robert J. Hughes, zealous booster of<br>state enterprise.  Together they founded the Wahpeton Pottery Company in January<br>1940 and married three years later.<br>Many of Laura Taylor's naturalistic designs reflected the native flora and fauna<br>of her North Dakota farm childhood.  A wide range of other products included<br>place souvenirs, human forms, functional items and advertising pieces. <br>Observing trends, Taylor met the needs and wishes of the public.  The company<br>name was changed to Rosemeade Potteries in 1953 for better name recognition and<br>remained successful while many other companies of that era did not survive.<br>Distinctive lustrous glazes created by Howard Lewis, production manager, set<br>Rosemeade apart, making it easily recognizable.  Metal oxides painted under the<br>glazes fired into colorful hues.  Lewis also threw swirl pottery vases and<br>pitchers.  He learned the swirl process while working at Niloak Pottery and<br>previously produced "Dickota Badlands" swirl pottery for the Dickinson Clay<br>Products Company.<br>Joe McLaughlin succeeded Lewis as production manager.  McLaughlin introduced<br>decorative decals, including those of wildlife artist Les Kouba, and accelerated<br>advertising specialties sales.  Rosemeade Potteries closed in 1961.<br>Although some early pottery and the swirl ware were thrown on the potter's<br>wheel, the majority of Rosemeade was cast in molds.  Most Rosemeade pottery is<br>identified with an impressed mark or an ink stamp of the company name in black<br>or blue lettering on the bottom.<br>tw254

18th Century Xuande Marked Archaistic Chinese Bronze Censer. Very nice estate<br>fresh Chinese bronze censer, honorary Xuande mark. Fantastic authentic "no<br>brainer" patina inside and out. A very nice censer that has been well loved for<br>a few centuries. 6.75" handle to handle, 4 7/16" wide without handles, 3.5" tall<br>with handles. Strong and stable piece with no cracks or significant damage, very<br>old small pinholes one one side shown in the pics.

c1910 French Renee Lalique Perfume bottles. Selling both substantial Renee<br>Lalique perfume bottles from the first quarter of the 20th century. The one on<br>the right, Violette D'Orsay's glass is made by Baccarat and the Metal Lalique.<br>It's marked with the Crown RL mark in the metal which I did a bad job showning.<br>It's a well documented but very scarce bottle that has surfaced at both Heritage<br>and Rago's Auction in excess of 2k. Debans Atomizer on the left which I didn't<br>attempt to use but the bottom of the bronze atomizer hose looks like it may be<br>stopped up. They measure 5" and 5 3/8" tall. Sterling Silver Turquoise Cowboy hat pin by Pin Roycroft Renaissance Artisan Alburn Sleeper (1937-2021)<br>Very large, cool and well made 39.5 grams from the early seventies. 3" tall x<br>2.25" wide. This was acquired directly from the estate of Alburn Sleeper, it was<br>one of his earlier pieces, he used to wear it on a Stetson hat.<br><br>As a teenager, Mr. Sleeper learned metalwork from Walter U. Jennings, an<br>original Roycrofter who had worked with Elbert Hubbard as a coppersmith,<br>silversmith and bookbinder.
