1830's Spode Copeland Garrett Footed Comotes Pair. Selling the pair shown in the<br>most amazing condition imaginable for even 10 year old porcelain but especially<br>for 180+ year old pieces such as these. No cracks, chips, restorations, crazing,<br>wear to gilding, wear to enamel, or utensil marks. Hand painted and wonderful.<br>10.25" handle to handle x 2 7/8" tall. I'm also including a pic of an example of<br>one of these with a hairline, crazing, and some wear bringing $818.18 in an ebay<br>auction in 2010. These have great painting and strong embossing, the feet are<br>really great.<br><br>Following the death of his father Josiah Spode II in 1827, Josiah Spode III kept<br>a watching brief over the Spode works. Incapacitated by an unfortunate accident<br>at the factory in 1802, he was unable to engage in the day to day business. On<br>his death in 1829 the executors administered a long standing agreement which saw<br>William Taylor Copeland running the London retail business as well as holding<br>one quarter share in the factory. At the termination of the agreement on March<br>1, 1833, Copeland purchased the remaining shares in the factory and the London<br>business. Being greatly involved in in politics, in developing art school<br>education, and living the life of a well to do London gentleman, Copeland<br>engaged one of his senior London employees as a partner and Thomas Garrett took<br>responsibility for overseeing the smooth running of the Stoke factory.<br><br>The factory grew in size during this partnership and the production of<br>porcelain, earthenware, and stoneware continued. New shapes were added and<br>patterns and designs were influenced by the rococo revival that dominated<br>fashions in the 1830s. Copeland & Garrett's bone china and felspar porcelain<br>attracted the attention of highest echelons of society, and after her Majesty<br>Queen Victoria's accession to the throne in 1837, she acquired wares for both<br>Buckingham Palace and Windsor Castle. Despite the prominence of their porcelain<br>productions they continued to make earthenware in even larger quantities with<br>markets at home and abroad. Among their finest productions are the printed<br>patterns some of which were traditional designs from Spode's time and other<br>newer patterns introduced for the contemporary market.<br><br>After 14 years, in 1847, the partnership was dissolved and Garrett returned to<br>London while Copeland continued to run the business.<br>tw221

Nice Heavy forged iron betty lamp. 3 1/8" x 4.25" x 10.25" to tip of hanger fully extended. Some expected pitting but all here with no holes. This early betty lamp burned grease for lighting in the 19th century. It is called a 'betty lamp' which comes from the word 'besser' in German (meaning better). Far superior to the rushlight or splint lamp, it evolved from the crusie lamp with the addition of a cover and a wick support which ensured that any oil/grease drippings from the wick flowed back into the reservoir. The betty lamp was probably the most widely used means of lighting among people of middle or lower income until refined whale oil became common. It burned any fat or oil that was available virtually without smell or smoke, using a twisted cotton wick. B70

Hawkes & Company in 1890. Mid Century Modern Marquetry plaque with Kings holding goblets. This is really fabulous, estate fresh period MCM from the 60's or 70's. Likely one of a kind, no identifying marks that I could find. One small blemish in queen to the right's neck, looks like an adams apple. 21.75" x 12.75"I'm fairly confident this was originally a drink tray due to the size/subject matter. But judging from the patina of the hooks and wire on the back in the 70's or even 60's they decided they wanted to look at it rather than spill drinks all over it. And while there are trays from this era with a more intricate design this is by far the coolest one I've seen.This is showing up really orange on my other monitor, It's not orange, it's "regular" wood colors. More typical colors, not pumpkin orange.

c1790 Pewter Coffee Urn with First Prize at Los Angeles County Fair Ribbon. Great piece from the 18th to every early 19th century. Small fractures towards top rim on right side, a few expected dents. I could find no identifying marks. Making this particularly important is this ribbon that was fixed to the top of the lid where it won first prize at the Los Angeles county fair in probably the 1920's-50's. I could find no date on the ribbon it's obviously very old and from a much simpler time than we live in today. Selling the pot and the ribbon it won. c1860 Austin Texas Portrait of a Stern young woman. Very interesting large<br>portrait of a interesting looking young Austin woman that likely went on to do<br>many great things. I acquired this from a long term Austin estate seller's<br>private collection, they assured me she was from an important Austin family but<br>didn't seem to know which one. So there's likely a street and a school named<br>after her and her family. Important or not I think she's great. I'm 100%<br>positive this is a 19th century painting that has obviously been reframed within<br>the last 30 years. Appears to be an oil on board, 29.5" x 23.5" framed 19.75" x<br>24.5" sight. Fantastic 19th century Southern American portrait with no<br>significant issues. I have not examined this out of the frame, they did such a<br>good clean job framing it up that I just hate to tear off the back and<br>disrespect their work, though I am curious as there is no detectable signature<br>on the front.

c1890 Huge Cranberry Optic Brass based Table Oil Lamp. This lamp is beyond incredible, the base was fully restored at one point, it works, holds oil, the knobs for the burner/wick work, The oil cap says Juno Safety lamp made in Germany. This unusual lamp was likely made for and used aboard a ship or Train, or maybe the banquet of a hotel. But I think with the ultra wide base it really has a transportation feel to it. Guaranteed well over 100 years old base and shade and most likely original to each other as they are an uncommon size. This globe is huge measuring 11.5" tall x 9.5" wide with a 6" fitter base at the bottom of the globe. It is near mint with one tiny flake where it fits on the lamp base shown in the last pic, no other chips, no cracks, no scratches. The brass base measures 11 3/8" wide x 8" tall. Total height about 18.5" This is a big fat lamp. A few small dents in the brass shouldn't be a distraction as it's totally wonderful and will light up every room even if not in use. Today with portable led's it would be so easy to light this up without actually doing the oil thing in a modern home. Obviously they will be packed to death, the shade in it's own box with tons of cushion, I ship things like this globally daily, thanks for your consideration.

c1890 Amber Apothecary Bottle Set some Labels Under Glass ground stoppers. Selling all the bottles shown all from one estate, I was told their family owned a drugstore in the late 19th-early 20th century south of Austin but unfortunately didn't get more details. These bottles are really clean all late 19th to early 20th century. No chips, cracks, not all scratched up, no dinged up or stained. The large bottles have labels under glass 9.75" tall marked W.T. Co USA. Mid sized are high quality art glass with ground pontils indicating they were hand blown by a top factory 7" tall and the labels appear to be enameled glass, these are the highest quality pharmaceutical bottles I've ever seen. The smallest ones are 6 1/8" tall and have paper labels, the bases are embosses 200 x 2, and the 2's look a little Frenchy. 1890's Pink to cranberry Cased Glass Peg student lamps Pair. It's really rare to<br>find a pair of these, especially with the shades. The whole lamps top, bottom,<br>burners, hardware, etc are from the 1890-1910. I obviously have no way of<br>knowing if these shades were on them 125 years ago or not, they were on them<br>when I got them and they look fantastic on them. As you can see some of the<br>hardware on the burners doesn't match completely, but they are functional, bases<br>and most of the hardware was polished and lacquered at one point in the last<br>half of the 20th century. Total height 18.5", the top shades are 6.25" wide.<br>They will obviously be disassembled for shipping.<br>TW234
